Honda HR-V 2023 US Version, Totally Different from the Global Version?

Since Honda introduced the third generation HR-V in April 2021, the global community, including Indonesia, has also been waiting for this Honda-style compact crossover to fully pave the way. In terms of exterior, interior, features, to the engine, which are all updated, people are increasingly curious about the HR-V. But do you remember the news that the HR-V 2022 for the United States (US) market will be different from the global market version that we know? Some of these pictures will refresh the news again.

The US Version of the Honda HR-V is Different to its Aura

For the record, although the following images are still just sketches, these are images officially released by Honda. However, from this official sketch alone, we can see that the overall design of the US version of the Honda HR-V 2023 is more aggressive than the global version of the HR-V 2022 which tends to be elegant. Starting from the hood, wider headlights, S-shaped grille, and black garnishes on the left and right corners and lips on the bumper are completely different from the latest global version of the Honda HR-V.

Likewise from the side, obvious differences can also be seen from the taller pillars, the rear door handles that do not blend with the C pillar, and the flatter wheel arches on the US version of the Honda HR-V 2023. Then if you look at the back, you are not wrong if you immediately think of the Honda City Hatchback because of the same style of lights. However, with the black garnish on the bumper, the HR-V US still reminds us of the stern of the second generation HR-V.

The Reasons Behind The Difference Between US And Global Markets

HR-V for the US market or North America is deliberately different from the global version. This is also supported by Honda's statement from early 2021. It said that the new HR-V will be designed to meet the different needs of US customers, and will be different from the Honda Vezel and HR-V which will be introduced in other regions. This is the first reason why the new US version of the Honda HR-V is different from what is already known.

The second reason was the removal of the Honda Fit or Honda Jazz from the American Honda line-up as of 2020, thus making the HR-V and Civic Hatchback their entry-level models on the West side. Honda even had time to decide to increase production of the HR-V. Where it was the right decision as there were 137,090 shipments in 2021, up 63.1 percent from 2020.

High demand and different market needs are what make the Honda HR-V 2023 in the United States different from the global third-generation HR-V that we already know. So because there are two different forms of the Honda HR-V, now which one do you prefer? Yes, in the end, the biggest possibility is still the global version of the Honda HR-V 2022 that will enter Indonesia, so accept it, those who prefer the US version.
